Finished Sizes

Extra Small (newborn) with Small (3-6 months), Medium (6-9 months), Large (9-12 months) and Extra Large (12-18 months) in parenthesis. Model is made in size Large (9-12 months).

Materials

TLC Cotton Plus (100 gm/3.5 oz/186 yds): Med. Blue: 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) skeins (A) and Thistle: 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) skein (B)

Suggested Hook sizes: F-5 [3.75mm ] and G-7 [4.5mm] (or size needed to meet gauge)

Needle (for weaving ends)

Yarn Note

TLC Cotton Plus is discontinued. Lion Brand Comfy Cotton makes a great substitute)

Gauge

With larger hook, 16 sc for 18 rows equals 4”

Sweater

Tip: When working rows of single crochet in back loops only, for a neater edge, try working the last stitch of each row in both loops, rather than only the back loop.

Front

Ribbing: With B and smaller hook, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, *ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, sc across. Rep from * until a total of 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) rows have been completed from beg. On final row, switch to A, cut off B.

With A and larger hook, ch 1, work 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) sc evenly across long side of Ribbing. (Mark as RS.)

*Ch 1, turn, sc across, rep from * until 16 (20, 24, 28, 32) rows have been completed from beg.

Armhole Shaping: Sl st across first 3 sc, ch 1, sc across to last 3 sc, turn, leaving the last 3 sc unworked—26 (30, 34, 38, 42) sc.

*Ch 1, turn, sc across, rep from * until 11 (15, 19, 23, 27) rows have been completed for Armhole.

Shoulder: Ch 1, turn, sc across 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) sts only, leaving the rem sc unworked. Ch 1, turn, insert hook in first sc and pull lp through, insert hook in second sc and pull lp through, yo and pull through 3 lps on hook (decrease sc made), sc across last 2 (3, 4, 5, 6) sc, cut off A.

Opposite Shoulder: Count 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) sc from opposite Armhole, join A with sl st, ch 1, turn, work sc across 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) sc, ch 1, turn, sc across 3 (4, 5, 6, 7) sc only, cut off A, leaving rem sc unworked.

Back

Rep as for Front up to Shoulder, ch 1, turn, sc across—26 (30, 34, 38, 42) sc.

Shoulder: Ch 1, turn, sc across 3 (4, 5, 6, 7) sc only, leaving rem sts unworked, cut off A.

Opposite Shoulder: Count 3 (4, 5, 6, 7) sc from opposite Armhole, join A with sl st, ch 1, sc across 3 (4, 5, 6, 7) sc only, cut off A.

Sleeve (make 2):

Ribbing: With B and smaller hook, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, *ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, sc across. Rep from * until a total of 18 (18, 18, 20, 20) rows have been completed from beg. On final row, switch to A, cut off B.

With A and larger hook, ch 1, work 18 (20, 22, 24, 26) sc evenly across long side of Ribbing. (Mark as RS.)

Ch 1, turn, work 2 sc in first sc, sc across to last sc, work 2 sc in last sc, *ch 1, turn, sc across—20 (22, 24, 26, 28) sc. Rep from * 3 times more.

Rep above five rows until a total of 22 (26, 30, 34, 38) rows have been completed from beg—26 (30, 34, 38, 42) sc, cut off A.

Finishing: With yarn needle, sew shoulder seams, set in sleeves, sew side seams. With larger crochet hook, join B to either shoulder seam, ch 1, sc evenly around neckline, sl st to first sc, cut off B, weave in all ends carefully and securely.

Pants

Leg

Ribbing: With B and smaller hook, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch, *ch 1, turn, working in back lps only, sc across. Rep from * until a total of 21 (23, 23, 23, 25) rows have been completed from beg. On final row, switch to A, cut off B.

With A and larger hook, ch 1, work 21 (23, 25, 29, 31) sc evenly across long side of Ribbing. (Mark as RS.)

Ch 1, turn, work 2 sc in first sc, sc across to last sc, work 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn, sc across—23 (25, 27, 31, 33) sc.

Rep above two rows until a total of 18 (20, 22, 24, 28) rows have been completed from beg—39 (43, 47, 53, 59) sc, cut off A.

Other Leg: Work same as for first Leg, except do not cut off after final row.

Seat: Still working with Other Leg, ch 1, turn, sc across, ch 2, bringing first Leg close to work, sc across first Leg, ch 2, sl st to first sc of Other Leg (forming a large ring). Begin working in rounds. Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc and each ch around, sl st to first sc—82 (90, 98, 110, 122) sc. *Ch 1, turn, sc around, sl st to first sc, rep from * until 19 (21, 23, 25, 27) rows have been completed for Seat, cut off A.

Drawstring: With smaller hook and B, work ch until Drawstring measures 24 (25, 26, 27, 29)”, cut off B.

Waistband: With larger hook, join B with sl st to top center front of Pants, *ch 1, turn, sc around, sl st to first sc, rep from * once more. Bring Drawstring close to work, working over Drawstring, rep from * once more, keeping ends of Drawstring to front of Pants, cut off B.

Finishing: With yarn needle, stitch inseams of Legs, weave in all ends with yarn needle.

Tip: When weaving in yarn ends near the top of Pants, take care not work the needle through the Drawstring.
