Skill Level
This pattern, with minimal shaping and easy Tunisian crochet stitches is skilled at Easy: above Beginner but doesn’t quite need Intermediate skills. It’s an excellent first-time garment.
Special Stitches
Tunisian Reverse Stitch (trs): Insert hook behind work, under back vertical bar, in a side-to-side motion, always staying to the back of work, yo, pull lp through. Right-Handed | Left-Handed
Tunisian Knit Stitch (tks): Insert hook between front and back vertical bars coming out at back of work, yo, pull lp through. Right-Handed | Left-Handed
Decrease (dec): Insert hook under two vertical bars simultaneously, pull lp through. For the beginning of a row, you will have a decrease that leans in the direction of your decrease. If you would like a symmetrical decrease for the end of the row, please review the video provided. Right-Handed | Left-Handed
Maintain Established Stitch Pattern means that you’ll continue in the same stitch pattern throughout, even when the decreasing doesn’t allow for a full repeat. In this case, always work trs on each trs and tks on each tks in order to maintain established stitch pattern. To make it easier to seam, always make the last stitch as a tks.
Binding off: When the pattern indicates to bind off, it simply means that you will insert your hook in the established stitch pattern, pull a loop through and pull that loop all the way through the one on the hook as well. It is a slip stitch. Right-Handed | Left-Handed
Notes
Project is made flat, in two pieces, then seamed. It starts at the hem and works up toward the shoulders.
Omit the funnelneck if you prefer a “shell” style.
The stitch multiple for this repeat is 5, plus 4.
This is a pattern I originally published in 2001. It is a full rewrite and republish, using my more current sizing principles.
