In the Tunisian Crochet group on Ravelry, there was some discussion about making four mitered squares in a join-as-you-go process. I hope this is what Littleberry had in mind.

Yarn used: Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable

Hooks used: H Tunisian crochet hook and H regular crochet hook

Finished size: 5.5″

For this project, you will need to know how to do the Foundation Row and Tunisian Simple Stitch (tss) in Tunisian crochet. Here are my videos for those individual stitches:

Square 1

Row 1:
A. Ch 15, work foundation–15 lps on hook, place a stitch marker in the foundation ch of the center loop (the 8th loop);
B. Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook (closing 3 sts, here and throughout), [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 6 times, 1 lp rem on hook (here and throughout).
Row 2:
A. Sk first vertical bar, 5 tss, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, 6 tss–13 lps on hook;
B. Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 4 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times.
Row 3:
A. Sk first vertical bar, 4 tss, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, 5 tss–11 lps on hook;
B. Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 3 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 4 times.
Row 4:
A. Sk first vertical bar, 3 tss, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, 4 tss-9 lps on hook;
B. Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 2 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 3 times.
Row 5:
A. Sk first vertical bar, 2 tss, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, 3 tss–7 lps on hook;
B. Ch 1, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 2 times.
Row 6:
A. Sk first vertical bar, tss, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, 2 tss–5 lps on hook;
B. Ch 1, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook.
Row 7:
A. Sk first vertical bar, insert hook in top horizontal bar of 3-st group, yo, pull lp through, tss–3 lps on hook;
B. Yo, pull through 3 lps on hook, fasten off.

Square 2

Row 1:
A. Join yarn with sl st at stitch marker position (do not remove stitch marker), ch 7, work foundation for 6 ch, pick up 8 lps along side of prev square–15 lps on hook.
B. Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook (closing 3 sts, here and throughout), [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 6 times.
Rows 2-7: Rep rows 2-7 as for Square 1, fasten off.

Square 3

Rep Square 2.

Square 4

Row 1:

A: Remove stitch marker. Working in V-shape formed by the previous squares, pull up 15 lps evenly along edges of squares within the V-shape–15 lps on hook.
B: Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 5 times, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook (closing 3 sts, here and throughout), [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] 6 times.
Rows 2-7: Rep rows 2-7 as for Square 1, do not fasten off.

Trim: With regular crochet hook, ch 1, sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner, sl st to first sc, fasten off.
