Notes

Project is made from top-down, in one piece.

If you crochet tightly, you may want to consider going up in hook size to a G or G7, maybe even an H if you crochet very tightly.

Shawl Base

Row 1: Ch 279, sh in 3rd ch from hook, [sk 2 ch, sh in next ch] 92 times, turn—93 sh.

Row 2: Ch 2, sh in ch-2 sp of sh to last sh, turn without working into last sh—92 sh.

Rows 3-31: Rep row 2. On final row, 63 sh.

Note: With each repeat of Row 2, the shells decrease by one. If you find that you are inadvertently decreasing more than one shell, it is recommended that you use a stitch marker to mark the ends of your rows.

Row 32: Ch 2, sh in ch-2 sp of sh across [63 sh], sh in ch-2 sp of sh in all rows below [15 sh], turn—78 sh.

Row 33: Ch 2, sh in ch-2 sp of sh across [78 sh], sh in ch-2 sp of sh in all rows below, turn—93 sh. Do not fasten off.

Lace Edging

Row 1: Sl st to ch-2 sp of first sh, ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp, [ch 3, cl in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch-2 sp of sh] 92 times, turn—92 cl.

Note: When making the cluster, it will tip horizontally across the row (for row 1 only).

Row 2: Bcl in first sc, [ch 3, cl in each sc across] 92 times, turn—93 cl.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first cl, ch 3, sk ch-3 sp, sk next cluster, 3 cl in next ch-3 sp, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 cl in next ch-3 sp] 45 times, ch 3, sc in last cl, turn—46 3-cl groups.

Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), 6 tr in same sc, [ch 3, sc in center cl of 3-cl group, ch 3, 7 tr in next sc] 46 times, turn—47 7-tr groups.

Row 5: Ch 5 (counts as first tr plus ch 1), [tr in next tr, ch 1] 5 times, tr in next tr, *tr in next tr, [ch 1, tr in next tr] 6 times, rep from * across, turn—47 tr groups.

Note: There are no chain spaces between the tr groups.

Row 6: Bcl, [ch 3, sk tr, cl in next tr] 3 times, *cl in next tr, [ch 3, sk tr, cl in next tr] 3 times, rep from * across, turn.

Note: There are 4 clusters worked on the top of each tr group. The first and last clusters of each group have no chain spaces between them.

Row 7: Sl st to ch-3 sp, bcl in ch-3 sp, 2 cl in same ch-3 sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 cl in next ch-3 sp, ch 5, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), ch 2, 3 cl in next ch-3 sp, rep from * 45 times, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 cl in last ch-3 sp, fasten off.
