Technique: Regular Crochet
Finished Size
8″ x 58″
Materials
- Yarn Baby fingering/sock weight merino lurex, approx. 400 yards*, color “Under the Sea” (more information in Notes)
- Size G [4.25mm] crochet hook, or size needed to meet gauge
- 120 size 6/0 seed beads
- Size 13 steel crochet hook or size that will go into the center of the bead to pull the yarn through
- Yarn needle
Gauge
In stitch pattern, 24 stitches for 10 rows measures 4″.
Special Stitches
Bead Stitch (bead st): Pull up slightly on loop on hook, remove larger crochet hook and set aside for a moment, pick up a bead with smaller crochet hook (or place bead on smaller crochet hook), insert smaller crochet hook in loop and pull loop through bead, remove smaller crochet hook, insert regular crochet hook to continue. Notes
Stitch pattern is any multiple of 4, plus 2.

Crochet Pattern Instructions
Row 1: With larger crochet hook, ch 50, sk first ch, sc in next ch, [ch 5, sk 3 ch, sc in next ch] across, turn: 12 ch-5 sps.
Row 2: Ch 5, sc in first ch-5 sp, [ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp] across, ch 2, dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in dc, sk ch-2 sp, [ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp] across, turn: 12 ch-5 sps.
Rows 4-145: Rep rows 2-3. Fasten off.
Decorative Band
Round 1: With larger crochet hook, ch 40, without twisting ch, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around, sl st to first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [bead st, ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc] around, bead st, ch 1, sk last sc, sl st to first sc.
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [bead st, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, sc in next sc] around, bead st, ch 1, sk last ch-1 sp, sl st to first sc.
Rounds 4-7: Rep round 3.
Round 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, [sk ch-1 sp, 2 sc in next sc] around, sk last ch-1 sp, sl st to first sc.
Round 9: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in ends securely.
Styling (optional)
Insert scarf through band until band is centered. Place scarf up to neck with band in front. Cross ends of scarf behind neck, bring ends to the front and put both ends through the band in the front. Adjust as desired.
