Finished size

17″ x 50″ (unblocked)

20″ x 54″ blocked

Although the project blocked to this measurement, it’s stretchy and will change width or height due to gravity, depending on how it’s worn.

Materials

Blocked Gauge

46 sts (one stitch repeat) measures 10″, 6 rows = 4″. Determining gauge on a lace project, especially a “wavy” lace project is very difficult. Listed gauge is approximate.

Skill Level

Intermediate. This project has a 46-count stitch repeat. It will require some concentration. Try using different colors of highlighter to mark each step if it becomes overwhelming.

Special Stitches

Cluster (cl): Yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo, pull lp through, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, [yo, insert hook in same st or sp, yo, pull lp through, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] twice, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook.

Small Shell (ssh): [cl, ch 3, cl] in st or sp indicated.

Large Shell (lsh): [(cl, ch 3) twice, cl] in sp indicated.

Notes

If you would like to make the project in a different size, the stitch multiple is 46, plus 26.

This shawl is rectangular.

Finishing

Blocking is recommended for all natural fibers. For this shawlette, I wet the project in lukewarm water completely and squeezed out some of the water gently. I rolled it in a dry towel to remove as much excess water as possible then placed the project on another dry towel and shaped it and allowed to dry.

With yarn needle, weave in loose ends carefully.
