I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years. I can think of only one or two times when I purchased yarn immediately upon seeing something and I can’t remember a single time when I not only purchased the yarn immediately but I purchased exactly the same yarn and colors in the pattern. Not once have I ever done that…. until now.
You see, I fell absolutely in love with this Carousel Throw by Sue Pinner. I fell in love with this sort of denim-y, heather yarn and I fell in love with the colors and I fell in love with the design. It was the complete package for me. I haven’t been able to take my eyes off this design.
If you want to try to get the yarn in the US, I was able to find almost all of it at Texas Yarn Farm. It was my first time shopping with this vendor but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. They were out of two of the colors (just my luck), so I ended up having to get a package from the UK anyway. For those two, I used Love Knitting and I had no problems with this vendor either.
In the end, it would have been easier to simply order one of the kits from a UK vendor, but I thought I was being so smart, trying to get it all shipped from a US vendor, thinking it would be quicker. I’ve been told that shipping from the UK only took about 10 days for the kit, but I had already ordered. I’ve always got to do things the hard way, I guess.
I am a huge fan of all heather yarns which is one of the reasons why I fell for this pattern so hard. The yarn is just gorgeous.
And, not to worry. If you prefer more solid colors, you can also use Stylecraft Special DK as shown here.

Even though the actual crochet-along is over, people are still making the projects. I’ve certainly not finished mine yet, but don’t tell anyone. You can follow along on Facebook in this group HERE. Just click “Join Group.”
