This is a project that I designed for Caron Yarns which is available for free on the Yarnspirations website.
Here is an initial swatch of the afghan when I sent it in as a submission so that you can see the detail. You can see that the final version is slightly different in that I added more rounds.

Caron called this afghan a “Flower Throw” but it will always be the Celtic Cross afghan to me. 🙂
What do I love best about this project? Foremost, I love the use of the Jacob’s ladder technique. I have always loved this look in afghan blocks. You start off with large chain loops and then you interlock them before putting on the last round that secures them.
Next, I love that this is a join-as-you-go project. I love the lacy look from joining squares together with slip stitches and loops.
This project will teach you both of these wonderful techniques and you’ll end with a lovely throw that looks more complicated than it actually is.
You can pick up the free pattern on the Yarnspirations website HERE.
Many of you have written to me to ask how you can help support CrochetKim. A Patreon account was suggested but I thought it would be better to provide ad-free PDFs of my patterns so you would get something in return. I'm steadily working on adding PDFs to all my patterns and I've also made this compilation available at a discounted price. You can, of course, view, print, paste to a word processor, convert to PDF, etc. on your own. This is just an extra feature so that people help out, if they want. Thank you to all of you for your overwhelming support and kindness these many years. Enjoy!
