Many of you will already know Doris Chan for her garments. She has four books, I believe, filled with incredible crochet lace. What you may not know is that Doris is almost single handedly responsible for starting the crochet trend of top down lace garments in our industry. You may see them everywhere now, but that wasn’t the case when Doris exploded onto the crochet design scene about 15 years ago.
My favorite is Convertible Crochet in which she demonstrates how to take motifs and apply them to different styles.
The Rockland Throw is an example of one of her blanket designs. It fits right in with the currently trending mandala style motifs. Doris doesn’t design a lot in this genre so it’s always a thrill to see how her creative mind reacts to designing something like a blanket. She doesn’t disappoint.

Please note that the original yarn for this blanket was Naturally Caron Country which has been long discontinued. Naturally Caron Country was a merino/acrylic blend in about a DK to light worsted range. When substituting yarn, you can use whatever yarn you like, as long as you’re using a large enough crochet hook for the yarn. Yarnspirations has several which would work, if you want to keep within the same brand. The key to this project is to make sure that you are working to a loose tension. If you work too tightly, the motif will cup.

I’ll be giving away one of these yarn organizer bags in this week’s drawing (shown in photo). Only the bag is included in the prize. The accessories are only for display. They aren’t included in the prize.
One name will be chosen randomly from all names entered prior to close at 11:59 pm (CST) on June 19, 2017. The winner will be required to provide me with a mailing address. Register through email or Facebook. The first question is mandatory to enter. Choose any of the other options for bonus entries. Good luck, everyone!
You can rest assured that entering your email address for this prize drawing is safe. I won’t use your email for anything except to notify the winners. You won’t be signed up for my newsletter or anything else. The only way you can sign up for my newsletter is by actually signing up for my newsletter and then confirming your subscription through email. Nothing shady going on here.
Many of you have written to me to ask how you can help support CrochetKim. A Patreon account was suggested but I thought it would be better to provide ad-free PDFs of my patterns so you would get something in return. I'm steadily working on adding PDFs to all my patterns and I've also made this compilation available at a discounted price. You can, of course, view, print, paste to a word processor, convert to PDF, etc. on your own. This is just an extra feature so that people help out, if they want. Thank you to all of you for your overwhelming support and kindness these many years. Enjoy!
