Technique: Tunisian Crochet
Finished Size
approx. 7.5″
Materials
- Lily Sugar ‘n Cream, size 4 100% cotton, colors used in samples: potpourri ombre and hot purple: about 50 yards total required for one
- Suggested hook size: Size K10-1/2 (6.5mm) afghan Tunisian hook and optional regular crochet hook in the same size
- Yarn Needle (for weaving ends)
- Fabric Glue (optional)
Gauge
In stitch pattern, 13 stitches for 12 rows equals 4″
Special Stitches
Tunisian Simple Stitch (tss): Insert hook from side-to-side under indicated front vertical bar, yarn over, pull loop through.
Tunisian Purl Stitch (tps): With yarn in front, insert hook from side-to-side under indicated front vertical bar, yarn over, pull loop through.

Instructions
Row 1:
A: With A, ch 24, sk first ch, *insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through (lp remains on hook), rep from * across-24 lps on hook.
B: Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] across (1 lp remains on hook here and throughout).
Row 2:
A: Sk first vertical bar, [tss, tps] to last st, insert hook in 2 outside lps of last st, yo pull lp through-24 lps on hook.
B: Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] across.
Row 3:
A: Sk first vertical bar, [tps, tss] to last st, insert hook in 2 outside lps of last st, yo, pull lp through-24 lps on hook.
B: Ch 1, [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] across.
Rows 4-19: Rep rows 2-3 consecutively.
Row 20: Rep row 2.
Row 21: Sk first vertical bar, *insert hook as for tps, yo, pull lp through and through lp on hook (sl st made here and throughout), insert hook as for tss, yo, pull lp through and through lp on hook, rep from * to last st, insert hook in 2 outside lps of last st, yo and pull through B, fasten off A.
Trim
Now with B (with either Tunisian hook or regular crochet hook), sl st in each side of row and stitch around, sl st to first st, fasten off. Weave in all ends carefully. Fabric glue can be used to help hold in the ends.
