Crochet Pattern Instructions
Back
Note: Front, Back and Sleeves are made with medium hook throughout. Just in case you missed the materials list, please see materials for information about hook sizes. The hook sizes are listed there, as with all my patterns. Once you determine the hook you need to match tension, that will be your “medium” hook. Suggested hook size is given for your starting point in determining gauge.

Set aside sleeves. I recommend that you do them ahead of time because my tension changed after doing the skirting. Doing them at the same time ensures greater success at maintaining an even tension.
Seaming
With RS facing each other, with needle, seam sides and shoulder straps of Front and Back.
Skirting
Begin working in rounds, without turning. Skirting is made throughout with larger hook.
Round 1: With RS facing you, join A with sl st in center back of bodice, ch 1, sc in each unworked lp of foundation row, sl st to first sc: 120 (132) sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, *sk 2 sc, [hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc] in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * to last 5 sc, sk 2 sc, [hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc] in next sc, sk 2 sc, sl st to first sc.
Round 3: Sl st to hdc, ch 1, *sc in hdc, dc and tr, 3 sc in next tr, sc in hdc, dc and tr, sk sc, rep from * around, sl st to first sc, fasten off.
Round 4: Join B with sl st in any 2nd sc of 3-sc group at center back, ch 1, 3 sc in same sc as joining, *sc in next 2 sc, [sc2tog across next 2 sc] twice, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, rep from * to last 3-sc group, sc in next 2 sc, [sc2tog across next 2 sc] twice, sc in next 2 sc, sl st to first sc.
Round 5: Sl st to next sc, ch 1, 3 sc in same sc, *sc in next 2 sc, [sc2tog across next 2 sc] twice, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, rep from * to last 3-sc group, sc in next 2 sc, [sc2tog across next 2 sc] twice, sc in next 2 sc, sl st to first sc, changing to A.
Note: If you like, you can cut off after each color change. I didn’t cut off since that would mean more ends to weave in later. I carried the color up to each new round. It’s inside the top so it’s not going to be seen. Be careful not to make the color change too tight or there could be buckling of the fabric.
Rounds 6-7: Rep round 5, changing to B on sl st.
Continue repeating round 5 in the following color sequence.
2 rounds in color B
3 rounds in color A
2 rounds in color B
4 rounds in color A
2 rounds in color B
5 rounds in color A
2 rounds in color B
6 rounds in color A
2 rounds in color B
Fasten off.
Seaming
Turn top inside out to set in and seam sleeves. Optional straight pins may be used to temporarily set in the sleeves to make seaming easier.
Neck Trim
With RS facing you and smaller hook, join B with sl st at any shoulder seam, ch 1, sc around neckline, sl st to first sc. Ch 1, sc in each sc around, fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in all ends securely.
Embellishment (optional)
This was my first time doing something with embroidery so, if I can do it, you can do it too! I really don’t know how to explain the Lazy Daisy Stitch in words, but I used a video to guide me through it. I just put the daisies on the front bodice randomly. I did five of them. According to things I’ve read, it’s always nice to have odd numbers for something like this. I don’t know why. It’s just something I’ve read. You can add as many as you like, wherever you like. Here’s the video I used (below):
