- Red Heart “With Love” 100% acrylic, aran weight, 370 yds per 198g:: Cornsilk (A), Aran (B), Iced Aqua (C)
- Suggested hook size: 5mm [US H-8]
- Needle (for weaving ends)
Crochet Pattern Instructions
Note: First three rounds are worked in a spiral. There is no joining. Ordinarily, when working in a spiral, you would use a stitch marker or small piece of yarn to mark the start or end of the round in order to keep your place on the round. Feel free to do that, but you may not need it when working only three rounds.
Round 1: With A, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook: 4 sc.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around: 8 sc.
Round 3: Sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc of round: 8 sc. Fasten off A. Push the center through to form a raised center.
Round 4: With B, join with sl st in any sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, *ch 3, sc in next sc, rep from * around, ch 3, sl st to first sc: 8 ch-3 sps.
Round 5: Sl st into first ch-3 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same ch-3 sp, *ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp, rep from * around, ch 1, sl st to top of beg ch-3: 24 dc.
Note: At this point, each petal will be made separately, in rows.
Row 6: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in next 2 dc, turn.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in first dc, hdc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, hdc in next dc, sc in last dc, turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, sk first st, sl st in next st, sc in next 3 sts, sl st in next st, sl st in side of next sc, 2 sl st along side of dc in next row below, working in round 5, sl st in next dc.
Rep rows 6-8 for each remaining petal: 8 petals. Fasten off.
Note: Remainder of square is worked in joined rounds.
Round 9: Join C with sl st in any sl st between petals, ch 4 (counts as tr here and throughout), 4 tr in same sl st, *sc in 3 sc at top of next petal, 5 tr in sl st before the next petal, rep from * to last petal, sc in 3 sc at top of last petal, sl st to top of beg ch-4.
Round 10: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc: 64 sc.
Round 11: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining and in next 4 sc, *dc in next 5 sc, 5 tr in next sc, dc in next 5 sc, sc in next 5 sc, rep from * twice more, dc in next 5 sc, 5 tr in next sc, dc in next 5 sc, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Round 12: With A, join with sl st to any third tr at corner, ch 1, 3 sc in same tr as joining, *sc in next 19 sts, 3 sc in next st, rep from * twice more, sc in next 19 sts, sl st to first sc: 88 sc. Fasten off.
Round 13: With C, join with sl st to any second sc at corner, ch 1, 3 sc in same sc as joining, *sc in next 21 sc, 3 sc in next sc, rep from * twice more, sc in next 21 sc, sl st to first sc: 96 sc. Fasten off.
Finishing
With yarn needle, weave in ends securely.
