Technique: Regular Crochet
Materials
- Patons Decor (3.5 oz/210 yd): 3 skeins of Winter White (CA) and 15 skeins of Pale Aubergine (CB)
- Crochet Hook Size I (5.5mm)
- Yarn needle

Special Stitches
Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc): Yarn over, insert hook from side of indicated stitch, going around the back of indicated stitch and from back to front on opposite side of indicated stitch, yarn over, pull loop through (3 loops on hook), continue double crochet normally.
Decrease Front Post Double Crochet (Dec FPdc): Yarn over, insert hook from front to back on side of indicated stitch, going around the back of TWO stitches (at the same time) and from back to front on opposite side of the two stitches, yarn over, pull loop through (3 loops on hook), continue double crochet normally.
Decrease Single Crochet (Dec Sc): *insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, rep from * once more, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook.
Decrease Double Crochet (Dec Dc): *yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, rep from * once more, yarn over and pull through 3 loops on hook.
Picot: Chain 3, sl st in third chain from hook.
Crochet Pattern Instructions
Motif Make 80
Rnd 1: With CA, ch 5, sl st in fifth ch from hook to form a ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, cut off CA.
Rnd 2: Join CB to any sc, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st as joining, (2 dc in next sc) twice, ch 2, *(2 dc in next sc) 3 times, ch 2, rep from * twice more, sl st to third ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *6 FPdc, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first FPdc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *6 FPdc, sc in next 2 sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, sc in next 2 sc, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first FPdc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, *Dec FPdc around first two FPdc, 2 FPdc, Dec FPdc around last 2 FPdc, 2 sc in sc, sc in next 2 sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first Dec FPdc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *Dec FPdc around first 2 FPdc, Dec FPdc around last 2 FPdc, 2 sc in sc, sc in next 4 sc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first Dec FPdc, cut off CB.
Rnd 7: Join CA to any ch-2 sp of corner, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, sc in next 7 sc, dec sc across 2 Dec FPdc, sc in next 7 sc, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first sc, cut off CA.
Rnd 8: Join CB to any ch-2 sp of corner, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp of corner, sc in next 17 sc, rep from * 3 times more, sl st to first sc, cut off CB.
Seaming
With CB and yarn needle, whipstitch motifs together with 8 squares wide by 10 squares long.
Border
Rnd 1: Join CB with sl st in ch-2 sp of corner to begin working along a short side, ch 3 (couts as first dc), 4 dc in same sp as joining, *169 dc evenly along short side of afghan, 5 dc in ch-2 sp of corner, 209 dc evenly along long side of afghan, ** 5 dc in ch-2 sp of corner, rep between * and ** once more, sl st to third ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc plus 1 ch), *sk 1 dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next dc, (ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc) 86 times, ch 1, sk 1 dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next dc, **(ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc) 106 times, ch 1, rep between * and ** once more, (ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc) 105 times, ch 1, sk 1 dc, sl st to third ch of beg ch-4.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each dc and ch-1 sp around with 5 sc in each ch-3 sp of corner, sl st to first sc and in next 3 sc.

Rnd 6: Join CB with sl st to any ch-3 sp of corner made between Dec Dc, ch 1, *(3 sc, picot, 3 sc) in ch-3 sp, ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, rep from * around, ending with sl st to first sc, cut off.
Weave in all ends securely.
