  • Lion Brand “Vanna’s Choice” (3.5 oz/100g/170 yds/156m per skein):
  • A: 2 skeins White
  • B: Small amount Radiant Orange
  • C: Small amount Black
  • Suggested crochet hook: 7mm (larger hook)
  • Suggested crochet hook: H-8 [5mm] (smaller hook)
  • Needle (for seaming, attaching embellishment and weaving ends)

Gauge

With larger hook in main scarf stitch pattern, 13 stitches for 9 rows measures 4″ x 4″

Special Stitches

Cluster (cl): Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, [yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook] twice, yarn over, pull through 4 loops on hook.

Single Crochet Two Together (sc2tog): Insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 3 loops on hook.

Notes

Scarf is made in rows then seamed once complete. The stitch pattern shows on both sides of the fabric. If you like, you can give it a twist when seaming or make a regular scarf. Either would be perfect due to the reversible nature of the stitch pattern.

When working a row in back loops only, if the last stitch of a row is too loose, work that last stitch under both loops instead of only the back loop.

When stitch count changes, total will be noted at the end of the row/round instruction. If there is no stitch count, it did not change for that row/round.

Assembly

Using main photo as a guide, stitch carrot and eyes to scarf.

Mouth

Mouth can be made three different ways. I used a yarn needle with C and used embroidery chain stitches. You can also do surface chain stitches with a crochet hook. Or, if you prefer, make a length of chain and stitch it to the scarf.

Finishing

With yarn needle, weave in all ends securely.
