Little Devil Hat and Cape Costume
designed by Kim Guzman
Technique: Regular Crochet
I was asked by Red Heart yarns to design a cape and hat for a little boy. This was a really tough job as it turned out. I tried everything! Any stitch pattern I tried looked pretty feminine. The look of crochet is inherently feminine anyway so there will always be difficulties in finding just the right stitch for something, but a cape? Yes, indeed. This turned out to be quite a job for me.
I finally settled on just plain ‘ole slip stitch. It gives the look of knit stockinette so it was perfect. I used a large hook to make the project go more quickly. Of course, they modeled it on a girl anyway so maybe I didn’t need to fret over it so much! 😉
My favorite part about this project is the hat, though. I really need to make an adult version.
