Technique: Regular Crochet
Materials
Hook Size: I; Wool Ease – 3 balls
(note: due to the difference in yardage with different colors of Wool Ease,
you may need 4 balls)
Gauge
4 rows of dc = 2 inches; 7 dc = 2 inches

Shell = (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same space
Crochet Pattern Instructions
Scarf
Row 1: Ch 27 loosely. In the fifth ch from hook, work (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same ch. * Sk 2 ch, work 1 dc in each of next 6 ch, sk 2 ch, work shell. Repeat from * once more. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: * Work Shell in ch-2 sp of Shell; dc in each of 6 dc. Repeat from * once more. Work Shell in next ch-2 sp of Shell. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until the scarf reaches the desired length. I prefer longer scarves, and made 120 rows.
Fringe Cut 10-inch lengths of yarn. Using five pieces at a time, attach fringe to each Shell and between the third and fourth dc of each 6 dc. This will be five fringes on each side.
Hat
Rnd 1: Ch 71 loosely. Being very careful not to turn chains, sl st to first ch, forming a circle. Ch 3, 71 dc around. Sl st to third ch of ch-3.
Rnds 2 – 10: Ch 3, 71 dc around. Sl st to third ch of ch-3.
Rnd 11: Ch 2, dc. Work Decrease dc row around. Decrease dc=YO, ins hook into next st, YO, draw lp through, YO, draw through two lps, YO ins hook into next st, YO, draw lp through, YO, draw through two lps, YO, draw lp through three lps on hook. (36 dc)
Rnd 12: Repeat Row 11. (18 dc)
Rnd 13: Repeat Row 11. (9 dc)
Rnd 14: Sl st in each stitch across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Weave in the tail in each stitch, then pull the top of the hat together. Weave in the tail.
Border Rnd 1: Turn hat. Attach yarn to any unused lp of starting ch. (Ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same space. * Sk 2 dc, work dc in each of next 4 dc, sk 2 dc, work Shell. Repeat from * around. Sl st to third ch of ch-3.
Border Rnds 2 – 4: Sl st in 2 dc and in ch-3 sp of Shell. * Work Shell, work dc in each of next 4 dc. Repeat from * around. After the fourth row, fasten off.
Headband
Rnd 1: Ch 71 loosely. Being very careful not to turn chains, sl st to first ch, forming a circle. Ch 3, 71 dc around. Sl st to third ch of ch-3.
Rnds 2 – 5: Ch 3, 71 dc around. Sl st to third ch of ch-3.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, reverse single crochet around. Fasten off.
Rnd 7: Attach yarn to opposite side of headband in any unused ch of starting ch. Ch 1, reverse single crochet around.
Fasten off.
