Size

Approximately 10.75″, seated

Materials

  • 3 Balls – Honeysuckle Yarns Rayon Chenille (88-yd balls) – Lilac Ice (or color of your choice)
  • Crochet Hook Size: F
  • Yarn Needle
  • Sewing Needle with Matching Thread
  • 2 round coordinating Size ½” Buttons and 1 heart-shaped white Size 9/16″ Button
  • Polyester Filling
  • Plastic Stitch Markers (optional) (A small piece of contrasting color yarn can also be used.)

Special Stitches

To work decrease, insert hook in indicated stitch, YO and pull a loop through. Insert hook in next stitch, YO and pull a loop through—3 loops on hook. YO and pull through 3 loops.

Tip When working decreases, try to stitch them tightly to avoid inconsistency.

Gauge

A 10 Sc × 9 row swatch in suggested hook size measures 1″ square.

Notes

This bunny can be made in worsted weight chenille as well. It will require adjusting your hook size and the amount of chenille needed. Because of the buttons used for the eyes and nose, this finished bunny is not recommended for children under the age of 3 years.

Rnd 5: * Sc in each of next 3 sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Rep from * 5 times more. 30 sc.

Rnd 6: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 7: * Sc in each of next 4 sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Rep from * 5 times more. 36 sc.

Stuff body firmly, ensuring that you have enough polyester filling to provide stability for the neck and head.

Rnd 44: * Sc in next sc. Decrease 1 time. Rep from * 5 times more. 12 sc.

Rnd 45: Decrease around. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

With yarn needle, weave yarn end through the top loops of sc on the final Rnd. Gather carefully so as to not break the chenille and

secure.

Leg (Make 2)

Rnd 1: Ch 11. (3 sc) in second ch from hook. Sc in two loops of each of next 8 ch. (3 sc) in last ch. Working in unworked lps of ch, sc across the opposite side of next 8 ch. Do not join. Place stitch marker. 22 sc.

Arm (Make 2)

Rnd 1: Ch 5. (3 sc) in second ch from hook. Sc in two loops of each of next 2 ch. (3 sc) in last ch. Working in unworked lps of ch, sc across the opposite side of next 2 ch. Do not join. Place stitch marker. 10 sc.

Rnd 3: Sc in first sc of previous round. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in next sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in each of next 4 sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in next sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in each of next 3 sc. 18 sc.

Stuff arms firmly up to 1″ from top. Lightly stuff the remaining portion of the arm. Flatten top of each arm and sew opening closed.

Using photo as a guide for placement, sew arms to body.

Ear (Make 2)

Rep Rnds 1 – 4 as for arm.

Rnd 5: Sc in each of next 3 sc of previous round. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in next sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in each of next 8 sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in next sc. (2 sc) in next sc. Sc in each of next 5 sc. 26 sc.

Rnds 6 – 16: Sc in each sc around.

Rnd 17: Decrease around. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Flatten bottom of each ear and fold the ear. Sew opening closed, stitching through all layers to maintain the fold at the bottom of the ear. Using photo as a guide for placement, sew ears to head.

Muzzle

Rep Rnds 1-5 as for head.

Rnd 6: Decrease around. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Tail

Rep Rnds 1 – 8 as for head.

Rnd 9: Decrease around. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Stuff tail firmly. Sew tail to the back of the body. Using photo as a guide for placement, sew buttons for eyes and nose.

Weave in all ends carefully.
