Technique: Regular Crochet

NOTE This is one of my very first clothing designs. It was definitely a learning experience. But, as I said, it was one of my first and looking back, I am really not happy with the way that I did the ribbing. I really wish I had known how to do a slip stitch ribbing back then.

Sweater

Optional: Surface Chains

Surface chains are worked onto the surface of the front, back and sleeve pieces from bottom to top. You can work the surface chains on the pieces in any design you like, or you can follow the picture. In any case, work the surface chains before adding the cuffs.

Attach chenille with slip st to bottom of piece by attaching to the post of any dc at the location where you would like the vertical stripe. Work the chain by holding the yarn under the piece and drawing it through to the top. Work each surface ch around the post of each dc in that row. Fasten off. Repeat for each row you would like a surface chain.

Bottom Cuff (make 2):

Row 1: Attach Bernat Coordinates to the long side of cuff. Ch 3, work 34 (35, 36) dc evenly across. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until entire piece (including cuff) measures 12 (15, 17) inches. Fasten off.

Optional: Surface Chains:

Work surface chains on sleeves as for front and back.

Finishing

Stitch together bottoms of sleeves, sides and shoulders. Attach chenille to neck line and sc evenly around neckline. Fasten off.
