Materials

  • Valley Yarns 5/2 mercerized cotton, approx. 350 (400) yds of color 6399 sheer lilac
  • Small amounts color: 1205 banana, 6319 blue iris and 5211 lime green
  • Suggested hooks:
  • Size E-4 [3.5mm] (medium) (or size to obtain gauge)
  • Size F-5 [3.75mm] (large)
  • Size D-3 [3.25mm] (small)
  • Yarn needle (for weaving ends)

Gauge

With medium hook, 23 sc for 28 rows equals 4″

Note

Bodice is made in two pieces, bottom up, and seamed. Skirting is made by attaching yarn to bottom of bodice and working down to hem, in the round.

Special Stitches

Single Crochet Two Together (sc2tog): Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over, pull loop through, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, yarn over, pull through 3 loops on hook.

Shell (Sh): [2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in indicated sp

Note: Front and Back are made with medium hook throughout. Just in case you missed the materials list, please see materials for information about hook sizes. The hook sizes are listed there, as with all my patterns. Once you determine the hook you need to match tension, that will be your “medium” hook. Suggested hook size is given for your starting point in determining gauge.

Row 1: With A, ch 61 (66), sc in second ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, turn: 60 (65) sc.

Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn: 60 (65) sc.

Repeat row 2 until a total of 8 (8) rows completed from row 1.

Next row: Sl st across 5 (6) sc, ch 1, sc across 50 (53) sc only, turn, leaving remaining sc unworked: 50 (53) sc.

Next row: Ch 1, sc2tog across first 2 sc, sc to last 2 sc, sc2tog across last 2 sc, turn: 48 (51) sc.

Seaming

With RS facing each other, with needle, seam sides and shoulder straps of Front and Back.

Skirting

Begin working in rounds, without turning. Skirting is made throughout with larger hook.

Round 1: With larger hook and RS facing you, join with sl st in center back of bodice, ch 1, sc in each unworked lp of foundation row, sl st to first sc: 120 (130) sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, * ch 3, sk 4 sc, [(dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc] in next sc, ch 3, sk 4 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * to last 4 sc, ch 3, sk 4 sc, sl st in first sc.

Round 3: Ch 3, [dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in same sc, * ch 1, [sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3] 3 times, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, Sh in next sc, rep from *, ending with sl st in top of beg ch-3, sl st in next dc and in next ch-1 sp.

Round 4: Ch 3, [dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in same ch-1 sp, * ch 2, [sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3]2 times, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, Sh in ch-1 sp of next Sh, rep from *, ending with sl st in top of beg ch-3, sl st in next dc and in next ch-1 sp.

Neck Trim

With RS facing you and smaller hook, join with sl st at any shoulder seam, ch 1, sc around neckline, sl st to first sc. Ch 1, sc in each sc around, fasten off.

Armhole Trim

With RS facing you and smaller hook, join with sl st at bottom of armhole, ch 1, sc around armhole, sl st to first sc. Ch 1, sc in each sc around, fasten off. Repeat for opposite armhole.

Finishing

Weave in all ends securely.
