Technique: Regular Crochet
These fun bath scrubs are made in fine nylon cord. The nylon has a dual purpose. It doesn’t retain water like cotton so there is less chance of mildew. And, the nylon cord is great for exfoliating. The Omega thread I used for these projects is available in 90 different colors and can be purchased online at Amazon.
Omega No. 2 (100% nylon thread), 300 yds per spool (One spool is enough to create more than one scrub.)
Suggested hook size: Size F-5 (3.75mm) crochet hook
Gauge is unnecessary for this project
Round 1: Ch 5, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 2 (counts as dc here and throughout), 14 dc in ring, sl st to top of beg ch-2.
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each rem dc, sl st to top of beg ch-2. (30 dc)
Round 3: Ch 2, work 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] around, sl st to top of beg ch-2. (45 dc)
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around, sl st to top of beg ch-2. (60 dc)
If you would like to change colors, it takes place on Round 5.
Round 5: [Ch 10, sl st in next dc] around, ch 4, trtr in same sl st as joining.
Note: “trtr” is 4 yarn overs. (Triple treble) The ch 4 and trtr creates a faux ch-10 sp in the last dc so you are set up to work at the top of the ch-10 sp instead of having to fasten off and re-join.
Round 6: Ch 3 (counts as tr here and throughout), tr in same ch-10 sp, 2 tr in each ch-10 sp around, sl st to top of beg ch-3. (120 tr)
Round 7: Ch 3, tr in next tr, ch 1, [tr in each of next 2 tr, ch 1] around, sl st to top of beg ch-3. (120 tr)
Round 8: Ch 3, tr in next tr, tr in ch-1 sp, [tr in each of next 2 tr, tr in ch-1 sp] around, sl st to top of beg ch-3. (180 tr)
